A Sense of Holiday

Hello,
found my old gem after messing with my old files. this (masterpieces lol)was my homework that been assigned by my lecturer when mid term break. She told me to write an essay about things you do each day through the break. now i don't know is this some of punishment for us or just some savage thing that typical lecturer does but, it is the best homework that are ever given to me from the first day school.why? well guess you have to find out. and please be caution of my terribly dreadful grammar as you may know from my previous post, English is not my major languages...

Friday, 20th December 2013. The first day of the my mid term holiday. I've already at my home that morning. It was one of the most hectic day of the week because I've to pack for my trip to my grandparent's house located in Semporna, Sabah. Me and my family went there by airplanes. The schedule for the flight was tight. We didn't had much time to rest. Our flight was started from Kota Bahru Airport then to KLIA and lastly to Tawau Airport. After that, we driven to Semporna by my uncle's car that take about two hours to reach there. It takes about six hours for us to reach Semporna from our hometown. It was indeed a very tiring day of the week for us.

Saturday, 21st december. morning in Semporna feels like noon back in my hometown. 8 am here is like 10 am there. The time zone is pretty different here. Not just that, Semporna had very scorching sun rays. It really burn my skin when exposed to the sun in the matter of second! That morning, me and my family had our breakfast with our favourite meals that only can be found in Semporna that is 'Mi Basah'. It may sound very familiar in Malaysian culture but here, the taste and looks are more delightful than the regular that can be found in other places. After we had our breakfast, we went to the local fish market to buy some fresh cheap fishes. I really hate going there because it really dirty, wet and smelly. It also loud and jam-pack with fish monger and 'orang laut' making them self busy. My parent love going there because the fish is sale just after been caught and sale them for really cheap prices. The places has not changes since the last time I've been there.

Sunday, 22nd December. The day we are on the trip to Mabul island. After knowing that one of my auntie decided to bring us along with them to Mabul island, we really excited and quickly pack are bags. Mabul island is located not far from Sipadan island, the most popular island among the tourist around the world. We reached there by motorboats. It takes about an hour to reach there. The ride was fantastic. As we arrived to the place, we were welcomed by the workers who work at the resort where we stayed for two night. The resort is called Sipadan Mabul Resort also known as S.M.A.R.T. Right after we had our lunch at the cafe, we went to the floating resort that builded on the water. It really beautiful. We were snorkelling near the resort. The underwater view was so majestic with beautiful corals, colourful fishes and crystal clear water. It kind of tiring but worth every second of it.

Monday, 23rd December. Me and my family woke early that morning because we had a snorkelling activity at Palanai Island that located near to the island we're on. Its not really and island because there is no land merges. There are resorts builded on the water that supported by solid underwater structure. It almost the same structure that can be found on the floating resort back in Mabul island but even more beautiful. The place become major attractions because of it beautiful resort, enigmatic coral reef and fishes from all kind of shapes and sizes. We went there by boat. As we reached the island, we geared up for snorkelling. My auntie and uncle get ready for there diving suits and oxygen tank for diving underwater. We needs to have diving classes and experience if we wanted to dive. Because of the water was kind of rush, I was washed away far from the boat without even knowing. I was glad that there are chalet structure that I can hold on to. Turn out that I'm not the only one who stranded by the resort, my father also the same. We weasel to the boat driver so he came pick us up. After an hour snorkelling, we went back to our resorts and had our lunch. It was kind of heart pumping and unforgettable mix with wonderful moment.

Tuesday, 24th December. The day we packed our stuff to leave Mabul island. The boat that scheduled to brought us back was at two o'clock. So, we still has much time to pack. We visited one of my uncle that leave on the island. He work at the resort where we stayed. We soon packed our bags and other stuff and board the boat that take us back to the mainland. We shake hand and say goodbye to my uncle. We were kind of exhausted but worth it. It was the most wonderful time of the year and hoping that we've visits the island for next year holiday.

Wednesday, 25th December. The day where we going to the city of Tawau. My parent decided to spend a night in Tawau. We went there by my uncle's car. He stayed on an island so he didn't use his car frequently. It take about two hour or more to reached the city. We went to the
supermarket and walk around. After that, we had our self some roasted chicken wings that are sales by most of the street vendor infront of the supermarket. The chicken wings are roasted on there cart. The place was thick with smoke but yet still can attract customer. Lots of people waiting for there turn to have those tasty chicken wings. It really brought me back to the time when I visited the place last year.

Thursday, 26th December. We stayed at a budget hotel last night and that morning we packed our stuff to check out. Before we went back to Semporna, we went to the traditional grocery market where local goods like salted fish, fish crackers, and other stuff are sell there. The market is so large. We bought some salted fish and other local food as we took it along when we're going back to our home. After done shopped at the market, we went back to Semporna. I love how traditional culture is still been use as daily routine by the local people and never washed away by the empowerment of technology.

Friday, 27th December. We had nothing planned to do today. We decided to sit back and relax in our grandmothers house. This time of week where the school is about to start, the house is quiet because all my uncles and auntie went back to there home and get ready for schools. The house became crowded when there are holiday and festive season because all my relatives will gather here to visit grandma. Now it just us and one of my auntie and her family who leave with my grandma.

Saturday, 28th December. My parent woke early this morning as they visited my late grandfathers grave and recited some prayers for him. He past away three years ago when I was form three. On that evening, we went to Tampi-Tampi resort for a swim. We swam in the deep blue sea. We had to paid for two ringgit per head in order to enter. There were so many people that day because it was weekend. The water was kind of warm. The salt water made it easier for us to buoyance. The ocean is not as beautiful as Mabul island but we had a good time there.

Sunday, 29th December. The last day before we went back to our home back in Terengganu. We packed our stuff that night. My uncle was the one whose going to send us to the airport. At first, we planned that we went to the airport by bus since all my uncle were really busy. Luckily, one of them had a green light to spend some time on send us to the airport. Our thanks to him is infinite. He had been helped us so many time through out the vacation. He was the one who took us at the airport when we arrives. He lend his car to us so that we can move around the places and he also the one who send us back to the airport when we are going back. Without him, thing would be hard for us. There is nothing that can repay for what he did.

Monday, 30th December. The day we leave Semporna and back to Terengganu. It was another tiring day for us. We woke early that morning as we getting ready and checked our stuff that already packed last night. Before we started our journey, we shaken our grandmother, auntie and cousins hand and said goodbye. We started our journey at eight o'clock in the morning. We went to the airport by my uncles car. He drove the car. As we reached the airport, we took out the bags from the car. After everything been took out, we shake his hand and said goodbye to him, my father gave some money as a token of our gratitude. We hope that it is enough to repay of his kindness. As we were check in our luggage, one of our luggage was not allowed to be boarded into the cargo because it contain freezed raw seafood that we bought back in Tawau earlier. We already sealed them with plastic container wrap with saran wrap and put inside a polisterine box and taped the box with duct tape. But still, not been accepted. We could board it but we had to Bring it along with us in the cabin. We got no choice but carried it along with us. Bad thing just keep hitting on us that moment, since the box was too over the weight limit to be carried into the cabin, we had to take some of the item in the box and put it into other bag at a wrapping station that located in the airport. The box was no longer functional because we cutted the box to opened it. We bought a cheap recycled bag and put the goods in it. Thank god we had managed to overcome the situation before the flight departed. At the KLIA, The flight schedule were really tight so we had to walk faster in order to catch the flight. We arrived at Kota Bahru airport safely thank to god. We took all our luggage and put into our car as my dad drove it from the parking lot. The weather is actually pretty chilly here rather than back in Semporna, or it just me. Finally we had arrived to our humble abode. It has been a exhausting, complicating yet memorable moment
since at Tawau airport. Thank to god that we had managed to went through the obsticle through out the journey and arrived to our destination safe and soundly.
Through out the vacation for the past ten days, I had the best and memorable time so far, from blood pumping experience to the frustrating situation, It keep the memory more special and hard to forget. I will cherish every single time we had there. Not forgetting my grandmother, aunties, uncles and cousins that are so nice to us and make us feel welcomed there.

Tuesday, 31th December. The last day before 2014. I was just sitting back home unpacking my stuff and took out dirty laundry. It nice to be at home once again. I only had four day till I go back to UiTM as I continues my studies. After ten wonderful day of vacation, I had to continues my journey in studies in order to achieve in life. I had so many homework and assignment to do. As much as I hate being a student again, I had to go back to the reality where we need to fight in order to survive on this planet. That night, we just sit in our home while everybody went out to celebrate new years. I think it just a waiste of time going to the festival where people just went crazy and doing bad things. It better to spend time with your family that night and talks about 2013 best moment and new resolution on 2014. We still can catch fireworks in television or even outside of our house. It may not be very exciting but enough to celebrate it. 2013 for me was very exciting, I hope that 2014 would be more exciting and hopefully more memorable.

Wednesday, 1st January. First day of the year, as my family woke early that morning for work and school. In Terengganu, the state government had setted that first January is not a public holiday. Some states keep the holiday. That evening, i went to the town to buy pastry utensils as needed in taking pastry courses. The utensils was kind expensive, I hope that I be using it till the end of the semester. That night, me and my family went to the town to buy a ticket for me to ride back to UiTM. Ticket ride back to Dungun on Saturday were no longer available, so had no choice but bought ticket that scheduled on Friday. It a little early, but it okay. I got thing to do back in the dorm.

Thursday, 2nd January. The last day before I go back to my university and be a student once again. As I just finished unpacking my stuff of the holiday earlier, back to packing for the university. I only brought a small bag so I really didn't had much space to put the stuff that we bought back in Sabah. I had two bags with me, a backpack and a handheld bag. I tried not had
more bag to be carried as I will forgot and left them in somewhere. That night I packed my bags and chooses the clothes that I will bring along.

Friday, 3rd January. The day as I am going back to university as I continue my studies. I woke early that morning as the bus was scheduled on 11:15 in the morning. I made a final check on my stuff so that I'm not missing anything. After done packing, I shake my dad hand and say goodbye and also to my little sister. We went to the bus station at 10:45, we wait there like for an hour. Finally, the bus had reach the bus station. I shake my mom hand and say goodbye as I about to ride the bus. It take about two hour and a half to reach Dungun. As I reach there, the bus stopped at a bus stop instead of bus station. Fortunately, the van that will send us back to university were already waiting for us. As I reach my hostels, there were so quiet that it feel like I am the only person who already been here. Well, It is Friday where most of the student still in there houses. A few of them had already here. I went to my room and as I aspected, I am the first person who been here. I unpacked my stuff and change my bed and pillow sheets. The canteen still not open so i had to buy my lauch outside the campus. That night, I had no choice but sleep alone in my room, I hoping that nothing bad happend to me.

Saturday, 4th January. The last day before the learning sessions starts, I woke up that morning and praise to god that nothing happend to me after that quiet night. I had my breakfast with a bread that my mom bought for me and a mug of hot chocolate. Car engine were heard as the cars just keep on passing by shows that most of the parents send there sons and daughter back to the campus. The hostel starts to get noisy as the student met each other once again. That afternoon, I had to rode my bike to went outside of campus to buy my launch as the canteen still not opened. I had myself a 'Nasi Kukus' and 'ABC'. As I had finished my launch, I settled all my dirty laundries and tidy up my room a bit. That night, I went to the canteen as they finally opened. I ordered a 'Nasi Goreng' which is a terible idea because I waited for it for like an hour and a half. What really grinds my gear is that the one who get there order first is the one who just ordered. That going to be the last 'Nasi Goreng' I ever ordered from that store. Well, maybe for a week. I had no choice because that the only store that cooks rice and noodles that are available around my hostels. After had that really unsatisfying meal, I prepared for my class tomorrow and slept early that morning. Our journey had stop here as I will continues this journal for the next time or in another holiday.

and here a hand full of powtaytow!(in irish accent lol)
